Salutations,

I drove to Packwood Sunday night and camped near the Ovenbird spot. I
was met by Tom (?), the District Park Ranger. The bird was singing loudly
when we pulled up at 6:30 am. We had no trouble watching it for several
minutes. We left a pink and black striped surveyors' tape on the right side
of the road above a rock cairn to mark the spot we had the bird this morning.
It was at exactly .8 miles from the 3-road junction. Great directions from
Ken Knittle. Thanks to Tom Eckert for finding the bird and the original
posting.
On a totally separate track, does anyone know if the Arctic Terns
returned to the Everett waterfront this year? I have been there twice and
have not seen any activity. If anyone has information, could you send it to
me at <geopandion at aol.com>, as I am not presently on Tweeters. Thanks.
