I really enjoyed Ed's comments on Barn Swallows and nesting. As someone
very new to birding, I have to say, one of the most beautiful birds I've
seen is the barn swallow. On my first outing I was lucky enough to get a
scope on a perched barn swallow and it blew me away. I'd never noticed the
colors! This last weekend I was standing on my back porch in
Greenlake/Wallingford/Udistrict and noticed a great many swallows - it
looked like barn, tree and violet green all together. There were probably
60 to 100 of them and they were swooping all over the place. After I had
stood there awhile, they started swooping very, very close to me. I felt
honored. The flock is gone now, I wonder where they went next?
