Howdy Ya'll,
Did some major driving today, logging 630 miles total. Mainly cleaning up
some misses on my state and life list. Here are the highlights:

OVENBIRD - observed the bird in Packwood about .1 mile back from where the
Pink Flagging tape marks the location (see Ken Knittles directions on a
previous post, they worked GREAT!) The bird was singing quite often and very
loudly, as soon as I arrived and opened my car door. TEACHER! TEACHER!
TEACHER! TEACHER! was coming from the north side of the road about 20 yards
in and about 30 feet up in the tree.

BLACK-THROATED SPARROW (BTSP) - on Huntziger Road .8 miles south of the state
park on the right side of the road, where Gene Revelas and Rick Romea
reported earlier this week. my 400th ABA lifer, not a bad one I guess.

LARK SPARROW - 4-5 below Wanupum Dam, one of my state nemesis birds...till
today.

TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS - many males and females at the Wilson Creek site.
Delorme page 69, top righthand corner. 1.9 miles down road 22NE from the
intersection of hwy 28.

GRASSHOPPER SPARROW - called one out at Atkins Lake, Douglas County...glad
BTSP was # 400 and not this one.

Other goodies were many Eastern and Western Kingbirds all over Douglas and
Grant Counties, a Lazuli Bunting near the Ovenbird site, and now a very tired
birder must rest up for work ma?ana.....

Good birding.
