There is a nice flat spot to camp at the Packwood Ovenbird site, so I spent
the night there. The Ovenbird was not singing when I arrived at 9:30pm. A
Nighthawk flew nearby and at 10:11PM 2 Black-crowned Night Herons flew
overhead squawking!

The Ovenbird did not start singing at first light with the Pacific-Slope
Flycatchers and Western Tanagers. But at 5:08AM AM Friday the Ovenbird
began to sing and did so continuously until 6:57AM. After that it sang
only sporadically until I left at 8:45am and Ruth Sullivan showed up to
take photos. At all times that I heard it sing it was within a 100 yards of
the rock cairn and marker tape.
