Hi Tweets -

Just got back from a trip up to the Iona treatment plant. From 9:30-10
this morning the Garganey was nicely visible on the island in the NE
pond under good lighting. It does move around on the island and can be
concealed from some angles. The bird is going into eclipse plumage, but
still is showing definite identifying plumage - whitish stripe from bill
and above eye to nape, ruddy/buffish cheek patches. Still some grey on
the coverts. Pretty little bird.

When I left it was on the ground behind a couple of Gadwalls, and only
the top of its head was barely visible. Patience should bring rewards.

Good Birding,
