Hi, Dave, and Tweeters,

Here on the Prairie (south of Tumwater) I get exclusively Rufous
Hummingbirds. In fact......I've never seen an Anna's..the day I do it will be
a lifelist bird! I am convinced, now that my hummers read my email, because
up until Jackie wrote her letter wondering where her hummers went, mine were
still coming by the dozen. Now...............nothing, although I saw a small
female feeding at one about an hour ago. I'm not certain if they are nesting
right now or not. Up until this past weekend the males were still doing their
J display and the other courtship display. (for which I have no name or even
a clue of what's going on.......the female sits low to the ground and the
male continually starts and stops just in front of her, making that wing
noise, and eventually flies off with a stuttering of wings...). Now I have
virtually no hummers. At the same time my neighbors honey bees are emptying my
feeders, along with a few yellowjackets and ants. So..........
But that's alright. It's finally summer........
