Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday June 29. If you have anything to add call Harry
Nehls at 233-3976.

On June 25 a BROWN THRASHER was along the nature trail at the Hatfield
Marine Science Center at Yaquina Bay. A GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was in
Eugene June 23. A male HOODED ORIOLE was reported in Mollala June 23, but
it did not remain.

A pair of REDSTARTS were near Cape Blanco June 26.

RING-NECKED DUCKS with chicks were on the North Spit of Coos Bay June 23.
They nested in the same area last summer. A nest of a SEMIPALMATED PLOVER
was found on the Spit June 25.

The fall shorebird movement in now under way with two PACIFIC
GOLDEN-PLOVERS, WESTERN SANDPIPERS, SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS,
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS, and GREATER YELLOWLEGS on the North Spit of Coos
Bay June 24. Two LONG-BILLED CURLEWS were there the next day.

A singing RED-EYED VIREO was on Grand Island in the Willamette River
north of Salem June 23. BLACK SWIFTS continue to be seen at Salt Creek
Falls southeast of Eugene. A male ALLEN'S HUMMINGBIRD was away from the
coast in the Klamath Mountains east of Illahe June 28.

The REDSTART continues to be seen along Indian Ford Creek north of
Sisters. The WHITE-HEADED WOODPECKER is still at Indian Ford Campground,
and both THREE-TOED and BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS are still being seen in
the Elk Lake Burn along the Cascade Lakes Highway south of Bend.

Singing BOBOLINKS were found June 24 at Paisley in the same fields as
last summer. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Malheur NWR Headquarters,
and a CATTLE EGRET was along Highway 205 south of Burns last week-end.
