Hi Tweeters. My dad and I arrived at the OVENBIRD location at 6:50AM
yesterday, June 28th. As we drove up to the marker, the bird was singing very
loudly from the West side of the road every 17 to 19 seconds. We walked over
to the area the OVENBIRD was singing from (about 20 yards West from the
marker) and I located the bird about 30-40' up in a fir tree. At 8:00AM the
bird flew down to the ground, about 15 feet away from where I stood.
Unfortunately I did not have a camera with me, but I got great views anyway.
The bird continued to sing every 17 to 19 seconds until about 9:00AM when the
bird slowed down a bit and sung every 20 to 23 seconds. At 9:30AM the bird
sung every 26 to 32 seconds, and it stopped singing all together at 10:00AM.
At that time I occasionally could see the bird even though it wasn't singing.
Shortly thereafter we left the bird and went to Clear Lake, where the birding
wasn't the best, but the fishing was very good.
