Well, not too many observations from Washington, but from across the
country, and in Oregon, the turkey vultures are on the wing north.

TURKEY VULTURE sightings reported in the month of February, 2000, (includes
some late January reports also) in Washington, Oregon, and British Columbia:

January
06 -- 2, probably overwintering, at Fern Ridge Reservoir in Oregon
15 -- 1 at the upper end of Yaquina Bay, west of Toledo, Oregon
16 -- 1 west of Dallas, Oregon
19 -- 1 at Fern Ridge Res., Oregon - described as a "regular"
28 -- 1 heading north over Discovery Park, Seattle

February
02 -- 1 west of Fern Ridge Res., Oregon - same one as January, probably
03 -- 1 at south Surrey, B.C.
08 -- 6 over Wishart road, Colwood, B.C. (Vancouver Island)
11 -- 1 south of Brandon, Oregon
13 -- 1 over Fort Rod Hill National Park, B.C.
15 -- 1 south of Gold Beach, Oregon
20 -- 1 adult, 1 immature at north Chilliwack, B.C.
21 -- 1 over Fort Lewis golf course
22 -- 1 south of Sequim in the Dungeness River Valley
24 -- "turkey vulture spring migration is picking up" from the Oregon RBA

C'mon Tweets - I know many of you are out birding often. Look up! Turkey
vultures can't get to Canada too easily without passing over Washington.
