Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday March 2. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

On March 1 the MOUNTAIN PLOVER was found again on the beach at the Dunes
Overlook, south of Florence.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was at Cape Blanco February 29. Over 1200
KITTIWAKES were with 500 HERRING GULLS and 300 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS
flying south off Boiler Bay February 29. A SCRUB-JAY was on the east side
of Devils Lake in Lincoln City February 27.

RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS reached Astoria February 24. A female RUFOUS was in
Portland February 24. A male was in Forest Grove February 27.

The CLAY-COLORED and HARRIS'S SPARROWS continue to be seen at the East
Side Checking Station on Sauvie Island, and the North Portland PALM
WARBLER is still being seen. The BLACK PHOEBE remains near Harmony Road
and Railroad Avenue in Milwaukie. A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was in North
Plains February 28.

A TURKEY VULTURE was near Baskett Slough NWR February 27. About 250
SANDHILL CRANES were flying over Crabtree February 24. On February 28
several flocks were seen over Eugene. The flock of about 40 TRUMPETER
SWANS continue to be seen along the Independence/Corvallis Highway at the
Benton/Polk County Line.

The HARRIS'S SPARROWS along Bruce Road in Finley NWR, and at Golden
Garden Park in Eugene are still being seen. A EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL
was in Golden Garden Park March 1, and another was seen the same day near
Creswell. The two WHITE PELICANS continue to be seen at Fern Ridge
Reservoir.

Many thousands of ROBINS were south of Prineville February 21; apparently
a major movement. Several dozen TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS were with other
blackbirds north of Prineville that day. An OSPREY was at Haystack Res.
near Madras February 25.

Four SANDHILL CRANES were at Agency Lake in the Klamath Basin February
24. Over 5000 ROSS'S GEESE were at Miller Island WA south of Klamath
Falls February 25. About 300 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS and 3000 RED-WINGED
BLACKBIRDS were along Stateline Road that day.

A SAY'S PHOEBE was at Fields February 27, and a SHORT-EARED OWL was there
February 29. SNOW BUNTINGS, REDPOLLS, TREE SPARROWS, and BOHEMIAN
WAXWINGS are still being seen in Wallowa County. One or two REDPOLLS are
now coming to Craig Corder's feeders in Hermiston. If interested in
seeing these birds call Craig at 541-567-0305.

Thats it for this week.
