Sorry if anyone is getting double posts, in my delirium I may have
forgotten to remove their addies from my replies. Anyway, I believe
the Varied Thrush are being displaced by the incredible amount of
logging going on recently. I've seen about 700 acres of forest vanish
just incidentally while wandering around the county. And that's in
the last two weeks! My Varied Thrush population has swelled massively
as I live in the only 5 acres of forest visible from my house--the
rest is recent clear cuts and the beginnings of the replacement
ecologies that come after a clear cut--and, no, most of these loggers
are NOT replanting.

Anyway, just my two sense on why the Varied Thrush are being
displaced.

PS. Actually I lied I CAN see more forest than my own but it is miles
and miles away up in the mountains and it is a patchwork of clearings
too.
