Hello Tweeters,

Am I right in my theory that chickadees won't come out unless
it's warm enuf? I hope they didn't leave. I didn't do anything
to em. Anwyay, I've noticed that on sunny days, here come the
BC Chickadees but if temp drops below like 40 or so, not a BCC
in sight. Does this theory hold water?

Odd thing is that I've seen em other places during winter altho
I didn't record temps at the time. I'm assuming it was cold
tho. Maybe they stay in conifers or something during the cold
cuz that's where I saw em usually during the winter. I do
record general weather conditions and all the sightings were on
'partly cloudy' days meaning also partly sunny. However, I'm a
fair weather birder during winter so that is one reason why
every sighting was on partly sunny days.

BTW, my Song Sparrow got a girlfriend! Sadly, for him, he also
got a rival who is much more aggressive (and prettier) than he
is. Not sure what criteria a female Song Sparrows would have
for a male but I'm betting on the crazy one with aggressive
tendencies and pretty white eyebrows. We all know what a male
Song Sparrow looks for in a human female tho, don't we? (wink
wink) The female is fattest Song Sparrow I've ever seen--I've
known I was seeing about 20 of em--but she is pretty too and
being fat might make her a good egg layer/sitter-oner.

I'm distinguishing male and female based on behavior cuz I don't
know what to look for otherwise. Fat == female doesn't seem
like a good indicator but I dunno.
