I was out in the front yard this afternoon washing my car, when I heard the
unmistakable buzz of a male hummingbird. I looked up and saw this male
Rufous hovering above my car checking every red spot, (which proves that
birds are attracted to freshly washed vehicles). He then flew into the open
garage checking out my hummer feeders which I took down for the annual spring
cleaning before I hang them back up in the yard. This is the earliest I have
on my records for them arriving back in my yard, they usually don't arrive
until the Cherry Trees in the front yard have bloomed, (and they are still
budding). I know its not extremely early for this species arrival up here,
just thought I'd pass along a little note.
