05 Mar 2000 0950-1020hr

Weather: mostly sunny
Wind NW 10-150; Temp 50F

Method: 30 minute station count at observation deck on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting
on ocean.

Western Sandpiper WESA 30 30
Common Murre COMU 1 1

Notes: Very high surf required that I use the observation deck
rather than go out on the jetty which has the effect of putting
the breakers between me and most of the birds. BLACK-LEGGED
KITTIWAKES were in good numbers. Surprisingly high numbers of
HERRING GULLS were also flying north.

Mike Patterson Alas, to wear the mantle of Galileo,
Astoria, OR it is not enough to be persecuted
celata at pacifier.com by an unkind establishment,
you must also be right.
