Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday March 9. If you have anything to add call

The MOUNTAIN PLOVER continues to be seen at the Dunes Overlook, south of
Florence.

A good movement of VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS, RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS, and TURKEY
VULTURES was reported during the week. On March 5 an OSPREY carrying a
stick was seen near Florence.

On March 6 two LAPLAND LONGSPURS, 3 HORNED LARKS, and a SHORT-EARED OWL
were at the South Jetty of the Columbia River. On March 5, 16 KITTIWAKES
and 30 WESTERN SANDPIPERS were there.

The HARLAN'S HAWK and the partial albino RED-TAILED HAWK along Oak Island
Road on Sauvie Island continue to be seen, as are the CLAY-COLORED and
HARRIS'S SPARROWS at the East Side Checking Station. SANDHILL CRANES
continue to increase as new birds arrive from the south. A COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT was at Coon Point on the Island March 5.

The BLACK PHOEBE is still being seen in Milwaukie. A SHORT-EARED OWL was
at the Hillsboro Airport March 4. A CLARK'S NUTCRACKER was at Mehama,
east of Salem March 8. A SAY'S PHOEBE and the first migrant SAVANNAH
SPARROWS were at Detroit Flats March 7.

A flock of 15 WESTERN BLUEBIRDS were at Ankeny NWR March 3. The flock of
TRUMPETER SWANS are still along the Independence/Corvallis Highway at the
Benton County line. Two SAY'S PHOEBES were near Mt. Pisgah, near Eugene
March 6. A BURROWING OWL was near the Medford Airport during the week.

An EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was seen March 1-2 near Madras, on the
Deschutes River just downstream from Pelton Dam.

BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS, REDPOLLS, and TREE SPARROWS were still being seen in
Wallowa County as of last weekend.
