Anna's hummingbird does make a sound that could be dicribed as a buzz. It
is as most call can be difficult to discribe. What ever discription you may
want to put on it , buzzing, metalic etc. that I have seen written in posted
messages there is one constant when a Anna's call it is a two note the first
downward the second upward. If I could present my version of discription it
would be zee-zeet. Anna's in California, who are year round residents, use
this call all year. It is quite distintive, and does not sound like the
buzz of the wings that you may hear from several species of hummers. Keep
the binos steady.
