Hello Bob and Tweeters,
I had this experience yesterday with my male Anna,s.As i described earlier
of the behavier, sitting first together in one tree.As i was standing on my
patio taken close up shots of the female Anna,s(not sitting on a feeder) i
heared a "Buzzing ".Looking up there was the male Anna's circling me with
this Buzzing and he had a completly rose red head.I been watchig this two
Anna's since November the 12th i usual can tell what is the male and
female, but i never saw the whole head completly red. I took photos of both
and it shows kind of red in some photos but never like this. This male start
than hovering around the female what was sitting pretty still. There both
than took of in to the air, where i lost sight of them.
I wonder since this two Hummers having a territory established here if i
will get a Rufous Hummingbird this year. I had the Rufous here breeding
every year since 1986 but this is the first time i had an Anna's staying
that long, having only twice Anna's comming true in the fall, but never
staying more than two days. I also like to ask other birders how many
Anna'Hummingbirds there are having steady in there yard all winter.
