Eleven members of the Vancouver Audubon Chapter birded from Washougal in
Clark County to Maryhill State Park in Klickitat County and found 67
species of birds. Included in the list were:
2 TURKEY VULTURES one at Skamania Landing in Skamania County and the
other roosting in the trees at Maryhill State Park in Klickitat County.
2 GOLDEN EAGLES at Doug's Beach State Park in Klickitat County.
1 ACORN WOODPECKER at the granary tree near the intersection of Balch Rd.
with Old Highway 8 in Klickitat County.
Hundred's of TREE and VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS over the Steigerwald Lake
N.W.R. in Clark County.
1 NORTHERN SHRIKE at the Bingen Ponds in Klickitat County.
1 WHITE-THROATED SPARROW at Maryhill State Park.
About 2 dozen LESSER GOLDFINCHES also at Maryhill State Park.
The wildflowers are just beginning the annual display with Yellow
Frittilary and Grass Widows dominating the blooms at Catherine Creek in
Klickitat County.
