Hummingbird Movement Report 03/05 to 03/12

I misread the report regarding the female hummingbird
reported last week from Coquille, OR. It was a female RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRD. Those of you keeping track may want to make the
appropriate changes to your data.

Hummingbirds are being regularly reported from interior valleys
of Oregon and the Puget Sound in Washington. They should be
crossing the border into British Columbia soon. Female RUFOUS
HUMMINGBIRDS were seen along the north coast of Oregon this
weekend (though I've still not seen any at my feeder). There
continue to be at least three males sparring at my feeder.

Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis) is still showing only a few
flowers (less than 5% of canes surveyed). Astoria High School
students have been counting flowers daily. Hopefully, they
will have some preliminary data to share by the first of April.
