Folks,

It is less than 2 months to the Klickitat County Spring NAMC Count, held
across the country on the same day, May 13th (this year). We had 164
species last Spring, up from 149 the year before, which was up from 103 in
1997. So maybe we will hit 170 this year, which makes one wonder, how many
species are there in the County... are we counting 85% of the species there?

Anyway, I just wanted to alert you to one of our annual birding highlights,
so you could circle the date, start listening to the bird tapes, exercising
your binocular focus fingers, and telling your birding friends.

Let me know know which sector you are interested in doing, or which birds
you are wanting to see. The results of previous years counts can be found at

http://www.teleport.com/~bhansen/counts.htm

The web site has also been updated including a new checklist with the new
AOU species listing sequence. We are also working on getting the records
for rarest bird (accidentals) sightings on within the next 2 weeks. If you
have any Klickitat County accidental bird
(abundance 5) sightings for Klickitat County, let me know. Also on the
web site are more regular events, and mention of the Bird Register at
Loafers Bakery in Bingen.

Look forward to hearing from you,
Bob
