Hi tweets, I just got back from a glorious hour at the Montlake Fill - but
then all the hours at the Fill are glorious, aren't they?
On this particular occasion, I saw 43 species. Among my favorites:
2 REDTAIL HAWKS
1 SHARP-SHINNED HAWK
1 BREWER'S BLACKBIRD
2 COMMON MERGANSERS
1 HOODED MERGANSER
1 COMMON GOLDENEYE
2 TREE SWALLOWS
Many dog-walkers were out, too, unfortunately. I wish the Urban Hort would
re-install the signage. I talked to a fellow birder yesterday, who told me
there is a new director. She asked him to put up signs, because she wants
to tell dog owners to stay on Wahkiakum Trail and not ramble elsewhere
(with or without leash). She said she felt she had not much moral authority
to speak up, as long as there is no indication to dog owners that the Fill
is off limits to pets. She told me that the director said he would work on
it. Perhaps a quick note from interested birders might help? - Connie
