Subject: Marymoor Park Report (King Co. WA) 3/15/2000

Derrick and I pushed through heavy winds (but no rain) this morning at
Marymoor. There were some good birds, but the total species count was low due
to the winds.
Highlights:
Sharp-shinned Hawk Definitive sighting at start of boardwalk
Merlin Probable, near the weir
Violet-green Swallow 15-20 near the weir
Western Meadowlark ~10 at north end of East Meadow
The probable Merlin was assisted by a 25 mph tail-wind gust as it shot by me
heading northbound down the slough, making identification difficult.
All told, 37-38 species.
Next Thurday, March 23, will be my last Thursday, 7:30, trip. Starting March
29, I will be going on Wednesdays at 7:00.
