Three weeks ago (24 Feb.) I had a flyby hummer and thought this was
going to be an early hummer year. But then nothing. Feeders filled and
anxiously watched and nobody came, until today. This evening an adult
male rufous hummingbird stopped and fed. So who was that bird three
weeks ago and I wonder how it fared? I know I was anxious for the little
buzzers but I don't think that I hallucinated it and since I wasn't able
id it I think that I will stick with today's positive sighting as the
first of the year for rufous at my feeder.
