My benchmark bird is the "Snow-bird." When I was a kid my dad would feed the
birds. We usually just had House Sparrows and one frosty morning there were
some different birds feeding. My dad said they were Snow-birds and they only
came in wintertime. When we would go to the grocery store he would let my
brothers and me get something (toy, candy, etc.) After seeing the Snowbirds I
would always get a sack of birdseed. I've been feeding and watching birds
ever since and Dark-eyed Juncos are still one of my favorite birds.
