1. Wire cutters.
2. Vise and pliers or vise grips.
3. Leather gloves.
4. Enough "hardware cloth" for "patches" somewhat larger
than the tile openings. Hardware cloth is rigid "screening" on
a 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch grid. It does not bend easily, therefore
the "real" tools to work with it.

5. Optional - a length of wire - you'll need to measure for your
requirements.

Method 1 : Bend the cut edges of the "cloth" "patches" just
enough to fit around the outside of the opening and "tie" wire
around them to hold them on.

Method 2. Bend the cut edges, but not so much that the patch
slides "in" to the opening but rather is forced in with the jagged
edges *in* - this provides the "spring" action to hold the
patch(es) against the inside of the tile(s). Just not so far in that
there is enough tile edge on which to build a nest !
