7:00 pm ? Meeting Speaker: Joanne Jewell

Location : Federal Way Regional Library, 34200 1st Way South

The 6:30 pm Bird Talk will be led by Rainier Audubon?s
Christmas Bird Count Coordinator, Thais Bock. She will be
giving a presentation on the Marbled Murrelet, one of the
Pacific Northwest?s most fascinating birds. This small
seabird lives most of its life on saltwater but flies inland

to nest in shallow depressions in the tops of trees in
mature forests. Come and learn more about this intriguing
bird!

Joanna Jewell presents: ?Pest-Resistant Plants?

Spring is just around the corner and now is the time to
begin thinking about your home garden and landscaping.
Joanne Jewell, who manages the Green Gardening Program for
the Seattle Tilth Association, will present a slide show
that focuses on plants that thrive in our climate and resist

pest damage. Featured in the show are sections on roses,
rhododendrons, trees, shrubs and ground covers. The show
compliments their free brochure ?Trouble free Plants,? which

will be available, along with several other plant lists from

the WSU King County Cooperative Extension.

Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be available
afterwards.
