I saw a tufted duck pair, male and female, on the Columbia River on 2/19/98,
about halfway between Astoria and Kelso. Weather was good, my daughter and
I were on a small ferry that crosses there, and the duck swam within 10-15
feet of the ferry and lingered in the area for quite some time -- there was
no mistaking the ID. I wonder if this is the same duck, and if one tufted
duck has decided that this side of the Pacific is home?
