Just a further elaboration on Larry Cowan's message about finding
Crested Mynas in Vancouver. The 2nd Avenue and Wylie Street location
is near the south end of the Cambie Street Bridge in Vancouver (one
block east), and is probably the most reliable spot to find Mynas,
summer and winter.

Another good spot, at least from March to July or August, is the
intersection of Hudson St. and Marine Drive in Vancouver-- near the
north end of the Laing Bridge linking Vancouver to the Vancouver
Airport on Sea Island. One or two pairs of mynas have nested in this
area for at least 10 years, often in hollow metal sign supports on
approaches to the bridge.

Crested Mynas were introduced in Vancouver in 1897 or earlier, and at
one time (before European Starlings), had a population of 20,000 or
more. However, they declined rapidly in the 1980s and 1990s, and their
total population now is under 50 birds-- possibly under 30 birds. If
you haven't seen them yet in Vancouver, look for them soon. I predict
their extirpation in less than 10 years.
