Tweeters,

There was fifteen redpolls in my willow tree on Thursday, but the "frosty"
redpoll was not among them. Today (Friday) I did not see any redpolls at
the feeder or in the surrounding trees.

There is a Mandarin Duck in Riverfront Park down by the Opera House and the
carousel in downtown Spokane. I saw a picture of him in Thursday's
newspaper. They had him on the front of the regional section. Is he a
vagrant or an escapee? Does anyone know how long he's been there? I
decided to go down today and investigate. There is definitely a male
Mandarin Duck down there. He seems to be hanging out with a Canada Goose
pair. (I guess he thinks he's a goose.) Does anyone have any information
on this duck, as I'm sure other birders found him earlier and reported him
to the local newspaper. I just find it strange that I haven't heard
anything about him.
