My husband and I went to see the bald eagles today. What an incredible
sight! And a BIG thank-you to the tweeter (alas, I seem to have deleted
your email, and can't recall your name! Eep! My apologies!) who gave the
specific location; it was very helpful.

All in all, we saw at least 20 eagles; we stopped counting them after that.
In addition, there was a pair in the big tree halfway across the valley on
Woodinville-Duvall Road (on the south side of the road). It was incredible.
I have never seen so many eagles in one place at a time. I'm still smiling.
What an incredible experience!

I'm planning to go back there today or tomorrow with my camera and zoom
lenses.

Of course, after seeing them (and having read Greg's posts about eagles and
cats), I got home and kissed my cats profusely, relieved in the knowledge
that my beloveds are never, ever (nor will ever be) allowed outdoors. Now,
more than ever!

I do have a question about eagle behavior, though, which arose from today's
sighting. Do baldies and goldens mix company at all (I'm not very familiar
with eagle behavior)? I'm curious to know if I might be able to catch sight
of a golden eagle perching amongst the baldies. Or are their ecological
niches so similar that they aren't likely to occupy the same territory, due
to competition for resources? Does anyone know? Has anyone seen an
interspecies mingling of this type?
