Hello Tweets,

Today I led a field trip to Ocean Shores and the surrounding areas,
including Hoquim STP, Brady, and Elma areas. 7 participants were involved,
including my mother, with a total of 89 species. The weather was favorable,
with only light wind at times near the immediate coast, and mostly to
partly sunny skies. Our first stop was made along Madrona Beach Rd., in
Thurston Co., as we headed west, where 4 GREATER YELLOWLEGS were noted at
high tide, and were our only yellowlegs of the day. Shorebird and sparrow
numbers were impressively scarse, along with NO alcids and loons,
consisting of only a few Common Loons, and a few locations including Ocean
Shores produced only a few notable birds, but a few returning nesters in
the following trip highlight list:

1 female remaining on the Damon Point pond

5 at the Ocean Shores Game Range

Surf Scoter
impressive numbers, perhaps migrating birds observed from the Point Brown
Jetty, and Damon Point, with 750+ birds in several flocks
