I most heartily agree! On Sunday I took a quick stroll around the Holiday
Hills neighborhood in Olympia, where I was housesitting for the weekend. It
was an absolutely gorgeous day, sunny and about 70F/21C.

Violet-Green Swallows were swooping low, and the air was full of the songs of
Golden- and Ruby-Crowned Kinglets, Song Sparrows, Bewick's Wrens, Juncos, and
Red-Breasted Nuthatches.

I went down to Ward Lake, expecting mallards and such, but instead I found
about 20 Coots feeding on the shore and what looked like a raft of about 60
Loons of some sort in the middle of the lake.

An examination of a wooded lot revealed lots of little songbirds, along with
a very skittish male Robin and a lovely female Varied Thrush--the best view
I've ever gotten of the species.
