Yesterday there were five TURKEY VULTURES near Fall City. I spotted
two of them circling, then they flew south and landed at the top of a tree
which had three more in it. They were in one of the tallest deciduous trees
around, a couple hundred yards northeast of the corner of the Redmond-Fall
City Road and 324th Ave. SE (the road just west of Fall City which takes you
to the Audubon Carnation Marsh). I saw them at about 1:00 p.m. The other
highlight of the afternoon was hearing a RUFFED GROUSE drumming in the
Carnation marsh (near the north end, on the west side of the road). One
male RUFOUS HUMMER buzzed by me briefly, near the Osprey nest in the marsh.
Didn't see any OSPREY, but I think I heard one.
