Tweets,
If I were to guess; this person's hate of magpies is the same as other
peoples disdain for all corvids. Yes corvids can be (and are) nest predators,
but they do serve important roles in nature. I have heard many negative
comments about crows, many to the effects of "I wish we could kill them all".
This is likely just a eastside view of the same "hate corvids arguement".
Corvids (and magpies are no exception) are among the smarest group of birds.
Biologists and conservationists can (and do) help to show that corvids are
not all bad, but there is just no convincing some people.

I'm glad to hear that people enjoyed birding the area around Othello and the
Potholes. It is a very good area to bird. For those people who this area was
new to, might I suggest a trip back in about may when the area teams with
birds, truly a great birding area!

To identify a species should not be enough to quench one's thirst,
a proper thirst must seek to understand every facet of the bird's
existence.
