Hi, Tweeters,

I just got back from a fun filled (yeah right) three days at Yakima Firing
Center. While there, I saw numerous horned larks, western meadowlarks,
ravens, magpies, etc. However, the absolute peak of the whole trip was the
golden eagle. He was feeding on a roadkill rabbit and a crow was pestering
him. He finally took off, the crow pestering him all the way, until he landed
on the ground about five hundred feet from my vehicle. He sat there until the
crow gave up and the returned to the rabbit. Wow, what a thrill...only the
second time I've ever seen a golden eagle!

Later, heading north on Wenas road, we passed someone's bluebird trail. Lots
of bluebirds in the houses. Also saw sharpshinned hawks, a large red tailed,
two merlins, coyote, deer and four fat cow elk. Bob, my coworker, saw a sage
grouse on Umptanum (spelling?) Rd. But I didn't see it........... :-( :-(
:-( although I heard it's flushing call.

All in all, a very profitable day, the golden being the absolute highlight.
