For you peregrine-fancying tweeters--

The Tacoma peregrines, G.P. and Mickee, have apparently not been
discouraged by their close encounter yesterday with bridge workers.

At midday yesterday, when Washington State Department of Transportation
bridge workers climbed up the 11th Street Bridge to take care of some
maintenance above the east counterweight, they saw a nest scrape in the
weight's south end. They also found both peregrines near the scrape, one of
the WSDOT guys told me.

An hour later, after the workers had left the upper bridge, both G.P. and
Mickee were on the west counterweight near the new nest box. From my
vantage point in the Wells Fargo Building, I saw Mickee enter the nest box
and turn around a few times, as if checking it out. She hopped out and then
in again briefly.

This morning at 7:15 when I came in to work, I saw both falcons on the east
counterweight again. Then at 8:00 a.m. I peeked toward the bridge just in
time to see Mickee fly from the east counterweight to G.P. above the west
counterweight for a 9-second copulation.

G.P. and Mickee don't seem much fazed by their brush yesterday with people.
