Hello Tweeters,
I got my first female Rufous today. She was sitting so long on the feeder
,to a male Rufous give chase.
Its been eight days since the males came on the 20th. Last night i checked
all my records from previous years. When i said four days last year was one
of the earliest the female arrieved. In 1998 the male came on March 12th
and the female on the 28th The record show in March 94 was the earliest
only three days when the female arrieved. But it is different this year all
together because of the 4 Anna''s i have here. I saw the real quite Rufous
male again last night sitting real still on the perch to sip the
sugarwater.I also have an Anna's female which got a smal black mark on the
right side right below the neckline. So i can most of the time tell there
identity.I am so glad i kept so good records of my yardbird this to
compare. This is the most Hummingbirds i ever encounter here in my yard.
