Hi,
I had a good morning at Shoreview yesterday. The
highlights of the morning were a singing male PURPLE
FINCH and 3 female RED CROSSBILLS collecting nest
materials in the clump of Rosa rugosa between the
ballfield and soccer field. The flew off to the trees
along Boeing Creek. During a walk along part of the
creek later on, I heard lots of crossbills calling
overhead. Looks like they are going to stay for
atleast a little while.
The TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was also seen again
yesterday, it was in the woods along part of the
creek. This is atleast the 4th record of a solitaire
for the park.
