Can somebody help me out here?

Yesterday evening I spotted a VERY DARK male robin, with a nearly black back
and deep, very dark red breast. This robin was also smaller than the ones I
usually see. Is this a robin from the far northern part of the Robin's
range? I think I heard the robins from way up north are much darker than the
ones that live and breed here. Could this be a Canadian sub-species that's
sticking around for the spring and summer?

Tonight I think I may have seen a Townsend's Solitaire. It was getting
pretty dark, and I was actually stalking a noisy Stellar's Jay. This
Thrush of some kind was in the same tree as the jay behind the Aukeen Court
building which is adjacent to the Green River Trail. What kinds of smaller
Thrushes could I see in this area?
