Hi all.

I like them when they are ones I'm familiar with and find them annoying when
I can't figure out what they are. :-) But, I use the ones I know, mostly
raptors, all the time in correspondence with other birders.
What about a compromise? If a post is primarily about one or two species,
use the full name of the bird(s) initially and the four letter abbreviation
in the remainder of the post. That way the bird is identified and the reader
can learn what the four letter thing is, if the reader wants to.
