Hi, Tweeters,

Let's not forget that, east of the Cascades, there's still a whole lot of
Washington. I'm quite sure no one in Yakima or Walla Walla or Okanogan is
going to see a Harlequin duck or a murrelet or even a spotted owl in their
backyard.
The idea of a state bird is for the ENTIRE state to be able to claim it, not
one edge of the state. I bet the entire population of bird feeders in WA
state can claim a A. Goldfinch, but how many can say that they've seen a bird
seen only in the narrow confines of the temperate rain forest of the Olympic
Peninsula?? Come on, we're all one state. Let's not shut out the Easterners,
even though they do talk kinda funny............ ;-)
