Sorry to hear that the discussion of the pros and cons of various
species as the Washington state bird bugged you so much. However, the
appropriate response would be to delete messages that don't interest
you, rather than to complain loudly to the group about threads that
bore you. Please remember that there are about 800 other people on
TWEETERS, and most of us could care less whether or not you find
something boring.
I find that at least two-thirds of the material on Tweeters is of
little or no interest to me, so I promptly delete it, and I read and
keep the other one-third or so. (For me, it is worth subscribing to
TWEETERS to get that one-third.) Perhaps you could try doing the same.
If I objected to every thread that bores me, I would be sending out
messages of complaint at least 3 times a week, and would probably be
drummed out of the group.
Let me make a comparison. Do you subscribe to any magazines? If
you do, do you read every article in every issue? I doubt it. Most
people that get magazines are happy if one-third to one-half the
articles are of interest to them. Perhaps you should take the same
attitude to TWEETERS, and if it really takes too much of your time to
delete uninteresting messages, consider subscribing in "digest" mode
(one large message per day).
Please, lighten up a little. Because of the great diversity of
interests among TWEETERS subscribers, most of us find many threads
uninteresting, but do not feel obliged to sound off about it.
