Birders:
While checking the Sowchea Marsh on Stuart Lake this morning I spotted 2
Terns Flying away from me through the trees. I lost them in the trees but
then spotted them flying toward town. I noted the large orange bill, Black
cap on the head and dark primary feathers, This was at approx. 300 meters
through my 20 power spotting scope. I was unable to locate the near town
later so will have to say I am 90% sure that they were Caspian Terns as
they were only observed flying away.
Also 15 Common Loon, 1 Red-throated Loon and I heard my first Orange-crowned
Warbler of the year.
A feeding frenzy of Common Loons, Common Merganser, Bonaparte Gull,
Ring-billed Gull and the Red-throated loon was interesting to watch as they
chased back and forth after some prey in the water
