Hey tweets, I took a late afternoon walk through the Montlake Fill
yesterday and was rewarded with a spectacular view of hundreds of Vaux's
swifts mixed with violet-green swallows wheeling and dipping around my
head. What a glorious sight. The swifts flew not more than 10 feet above my
head. I could see their little eyes looking at me as they shot by. Those
were workin' birds. I hope they garnered a feast of mosquitoes attracted by
my exhalations (and whatever else I bring to the table that attracts hordes
of mosquitoes and causes them to bite me instead of my perfectly
serviceable husband beside me). - Connie Sidles, Seattle
