I am sorry to report that the Peasley Canyon heron colony in Auburn (at
the junction of routes 18 and 167) has been abandoned.

My last observation of activity was on April 22. I am trying to determine
when and why the colony abandoned. Please write me if you saw herons at
the site after the 22nd so that I can narrow down the timeline window- it
will help me guess if hatching could have occurred. (Most of the nests
were incubating on April 5th- I would also like to know if you observed
incubation here before this.)

Also, I would like to hear if anyone saw any sign of disturbance at the
colony that might have caused the abandonment (eagles, kids in the woods,
yetis)?

Thanks for your help!
