The hard part is going to be selling it to the Texans. Having lived there for
several years, I can tell you right now that they're a proud bunch, and if us
"Yankees" ("""damn" Yankees are Yankees who move to Texas and stay there"")
tell them, "look, we think it's a good idea for you Texans to name the
Whooping Crane as your state bird", they may just go out and kill every
Whooper in the state just for spite. (I AM being facetious,
but..........sometimes,.......).

So we need to convince them it was their idea the whole time, and they'll
maybe buy it.
It reminds me of the time about five years ago when some woman from I'll say
either Boston or New York City decided it'd be a good idea to kick all the
people out of the Plains States and restore the prairie, so that bison could
again roam free across thousands of miles of prairie. I suppose she thought
places like Nebraska and Iowa were still inhabited by Indians and white folk
who traveled there in ox drawn wagons....there was an awful lot of irate
Kansans and others who happen to live in those states.
(never mind where those unhoused people were going to live. Certainly NOT in
HER back yard...)
