Hello Tweets,

Ken Knittle and I birded the 6th and 7th of May in Columbia Gorge and vicinity in 5 counties from Klickitat Co. west. We observed 144 species, including many seen with Dave Hayden and my mother on the 6th, as they joined Ken and I in various Clark/Lewis Co. locations, as mentioned in Dave's previous posting. Ken and I encountered great weather both days, but still cold temperatures at night, as we slept at Satus Pass W of Hwy 97, and north of Goldendale in Klickitat Co., mainly for owls, but only a pair of Great Horned Owls heard calling near Simcoe Butte. Some expected returning nesters were surprisingly missed, but a few species were great to see in migrant spots or in appropriate nesting habitat. Highlights include:
