Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
report was made Thursday May 11. If you have anything to add call Harry

A bright male SUMMER TANAGER was at Fields May 9. A KENTUCKY WARBLER was
there May 8, and a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was there May 10.

A female GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE was at a feeder six miles south of Yachats
May 7. The next day another GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE visited a feeder near
Beaver Creek, south of Newport.

A male HOODED ORIOLE was in Days Creek May 6. Another was reported from
Oak Island on Sauvie Island the next day.

An adult male TUFTED DUCK was on Hatfield Lat, near Bend May 6. The BLUE
JAY is still along Indian Ford Creek, north of Sisters.

A male ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was along Wireless Road near Astoria May 4.
A BLACK SWIFT was with a migrant swallow flock there May 10.

A boat trip out of Newport May 7 found a LAYSAN ALBATROSS and a
surprising FRANKLIN'S GULL 16 miles offshore. An OLDSQUAW was in Yaquina
Bay May 5, and one was north of Yaquina Head the next day. One was flying
off Boiler Bay May 5. A POMARINE JAEGER was off Boiler Bay May 10. A RED
KNOT was at Agate Beach May 6.

A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW and a POORWILL was at Detroit Flats May 5. Several
DUSKY and GRAY FLYCATCHERS were there also. A BANK SWALLOW was there May
8.

On May 5 several BLACK SWIFTS were with migrant swallows and swifts over
Stahlbush Island, south of Corvallis. A WHITE-THROATED SWIFT was over
Spencer Butte in Eugene May 4. Several thousand VAUX'S SWIFTS roosted May
6 in the chimney at Condon School in Eugene.

A SWAINSON'S HAWK was at the Eugene Airport May 5. A LARK SPARROW was
south of Brownsville May 5. Two BLUE-WINGED TEAL are now at the wetland
near the corner of Royal and Greenhill Roads in west Eugene. A RED-NAPED
SAPSUCKER was near Elkton May 2. A pair of BLACK PHOEBES may be nesting
in Sutherlin this summer.

A RUDDY TURNSTONE was at the Bend Sewage Ponds May 10. On May 7 a flock
of 50 LAZULI BUNTINGS were in Fields.
