Tweets, I am alonf the ridge on Puyallups eastern side, I believe below is the
town of Alderton, or Alder. It is off of Shaw road, and 23rd st going
east.Almost every week I hear the grosbeaks, even through the winter. A woman
who lives along the ridge has wildlife habitat, and feeders so I think this
has been a great help in the continual presence of these birds at this
location.... I often have a few at my feeders, and usually one pair visiting
frequently during nesting season. This past winter has been a bad time for
finding them. Any one wishing to find a good spot is encouraged to visit
Wildwood Park in Pullyalup(oh-oh) my Kansas accent just slipped, not enough
sleep I guess I'll leave it as a humorous notation......To get to Wild wood(
where the barred owls have been in the
past take 512 to the meridian exit(hospital and fairgrounds, exiting away from
the fair grounds. Pass up a couple of stop lights. Turn left at 23rd(also
light), go left about one mile; Park is on left. This is a great migrant area,
and have noted all woodpeckers but the redbreasted sapsucker there,(no not
balck backed or three toed, so sorry) both coopers and sharpies, and cassins
vireos have nested there as well. The Barred Owls were not there last year,
possibly due to loss of acreage across the street.......great place to study
birdsongs, and a great excersize trail......Maybe even the Barred Owls will be
back!!!!
