RE: the cliff swallows

Isn't it sad that in these days, animals and birds are still inconvenient and
messy?
We've managed to distance ourselves further and further from the natural
world, then wonder why we are so damned miserable.
I would advise your friend to put up with the messy droppings for this
season, then, after the young have left the nest..and it won't be too long,
what, the end of June? (I'm guessing) she can have the nests removed, the
screening put up and the side of the house cleaned all in one shot. She can
even have someone else do the yardwork, if that's what it takes. It's a minor
inconvenience for a very short period of time.
For what it's worth, the cliff swallows are eating an enormous amount of
insects around her house, to include crane flies (that destroy lawns) aphids,
(that destroy roses and vegetables) and mosquitoes, (that destroy people with
the diseases they carry). It's all a trade off, I suppose. I have a history
of bronchitis, but that's never kept me from dealing with humans, who carry
it, on a day to day basis...........

Sorry if this is so witchy. It's not personal.
